The day we all went rock crazy!
The day we all went rock crazy!

Today, we were joined by some rock musicians who sang and rocked for us! They belong to a rockschool club called ‘irock’.¬† They teach children to form bands and play the instruments. During the session, they chose some children to play the instruments – or should I say – ‘jam’ !

Toby, a boy in year 6 was in his element and performed alongside them on the rock guitar with a little tune from ‘Nivada!’

Here are a few photos of the event:

Year 6 Leavers Cathedral Service 2017
Year 6 Leavers Cathedral Service 2017

Year 6 had a wonderful trip to Winchester Cathedral on June 16th. The weather was glorious too…for a change!

Mrs Morton, Ms Cox and Mrs Taylor¬† drove us to the service together with our own little sheep ‘Eimma’ ! During the morning we had a great time wandering around the cathedral¬† finding many hidden interesting facts including how the cathedral was saved from subsiding 100 years ago. We were able to eat our lunch in the grounds of the cathedral close….Ms Cox found us a lovely private spot!…Well that was until we had eaten and decided to run off some of our energy! In the afternoon all the schools came together for an enjoyable leavers service with all of our sheep! The sheep were symbolising that we were all soon to be grazing in new pastures.

After a pleasant day, we …well…Toby and George (aided by Finley and Charlie) carried a very tired Eimma back to her resting place…Mrs Taylor’s car boot!

The school football team played brilliantly at the Alton Schools football tournament on 16th February. They won the group stages of the tournament with fantastic team play and goals from George and Aidan. The whole squad worked fantastically well together and were incredibly unlucky to lose on penalties in the semi-finals to a strong Medstead team. Well done to: Charlie, Toby, George, Finley, Aidan, Finn, Archie, Ollie and Cody- you were all superb! Also thankyou to our excellent group of supporting parents who really helped to give the boys confidence…

Brilliant Cross Country Performance by Binsted!
Brilliant Cross Country Performance by Binsted!

Finlay won the KS1 Cross Country at Alton College last Tuesday 7th February. In a fantastic race he timed his run to perfection to take the lead with 10 metres to go and win the race. This puts him into first place in the overall standings for the 2016/17 season. With one race to go he now appears well set to finish the season with a medal!

Brilliant performances from Abi and Matty saw them gain top 6 finishes and Ollie did a great job in the upper KS2 race.

Well done to all competitors- you should be really proud on competing so well on a cold February afternoon.

Young Voices Extravaganza!

Young Voices   2017

¬†¬†We made it….the O2¬†beckons¬†us¬†for¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† ‘¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† ¬†‘Young Voices 2017’

On Friday January 20th 2017¬† year 4, 5 and 6 –¬†together with their courageous teachers – took part in another ‘Young Voices’ concert at the O2 in London. We were joined by a few more children from across the country… 7,810 to be precise! It was a wonderful day and the weather, children and teachers were all amazing!

We travelled by train from Alton Station in the morning and arrived at the O2 via the tube at midday. Lunch and toilet were the next priority; after that we all went for a stroll around the front of the O2. Photographs were taken by a very skilled photographer …. me!¬† Everyone was eager to get into the arena to begin rehearsals.

We sang and bopped between 2pm and 5pm. Tea was then ordered and we managed to find a space to sit and eat yet more sandwiches before having to be seated again as parents began arriving. The concert started at 7.15pm and¬†we were part of¬†a fantastic two hours which included not only us singers but¬† ‘famous’¬† guest singers, guitarists, be-boxers, dancers and of course the excellent band. I can vouch that both children and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the experience even if a little weary.

We then made our way back to Waterloo Station;  with luck on our side, and a quick sprint to the train we managed to get an earlier one than predicted. So a great big well done to everyone involved Рincluding parents who came up to watch the concert and those who

             fabulous photographic skills!

had to sit up late to collect their children at 11.15pm

I will post images soon… so keep checking the website!
