Young Governors

Our Young Governors

Our Young Governors council gives our children the chance to have an input in making Binsted an outstanding school.

At the beginning of each term each year group elects a representative onto the Young Governors council. Elections are held and candidates make a speech to say why they think they should be a Young Governor council member. After this process each class member votes for the person they think would be a valuable member of the council.

Our Young Governors council has met with the teacher representative to discuss various proposals. Recently they had a chance to air their views with a visiting Diocesan inspecter.

The Young Governors council meets regularly to discuss any issues that have arisen from class council meetings.

Our Key Focus this Term

We are working on planning and promoting activities linked to the Olympic Values and our Rights, Respects and Responsibilities curriculum.

These Values are:

  • respect – fair play; knowing one’s own limits; and taking care of one’s health and the environment
  • excellence – how to give the best of oneself, on the field of play or in life; taking part; and progressing according to one’s own objectives
  • friendship – how, through sport, to understand each other despite any differences
