“You won’t be able to do it”, “You’re mad to try it”, “No-one will come”. But they did come … and everyone had the most fabulous evening that Jacquie and I only ever dreamed about. The Black Tie, Charity Dinner was an overwhelming success making over £1,500 profit – all of which was donated to FOBS – Friends of Binsted School.
We drank, danced, auctioned and partied (some until the early hours) at The Grange Hotel, Alton – all in aid of purchasing a reading scheme for our children who attend this local village school. This was the first fundraiser we have organised that didn’t directly include the children – but their presence was felt just by the amount of the people who ‘put their hands in their pockets’ and gave valuable cash to support them in the learning. To those who came – we thank you sincerely for supporting the charity and hope to see you and lots of others at our next fundraising event.
The Annual Binsted School ‘FOBS’ duck race was an overwhelming success raising in excess of £500. Ducks were beautifully decorated and raced along the river Wey near Bentley. As ducks tumbled from the ‘pooh sticks’ bridge, the race began! Kids, adults and dogs all followed the ducks as they made their way down the winding river, dodging reeds and avoiding dogs as they dived in to join in the fun!
