Our Visit to the Curtis Museum

Monday, 14 November 2011 00:00 Last Updated on Monday, 14 November 2011 10:34

Curtis MuseumEagles Class from Binsted School boarded the coach that would be taking them to the Curtis Museum, Alton. Eagles arrived at the small museum on time. They were told to sit down so they could get their instructions and rules.

The class were taken around the museum so they could see all the artefacts and get a feel for the place.

Then they had 15 minutes to wander around the museum to find the activities and have a closer look at all the artefacts.

These are some of the things the children saw: Stuffed animals, old clothes, cutlery, money, medals, models and lots more!

Next the pupils were sent off in groups to do different activity workshops. There were five of them.

They were:

  1. Collection Records
  2. Setting up a display
  3. Labels
  4. How things can harm artefacts
  5. Guess the artefact

The children thought they were all great fun.

We interviewed a child from year 6 to see what they thought about the morning.

“I thought it was a superb morning and my favourite artefacts were the stuffed animals. Awww so cute however, so sad to see

them dead”

All in all, the morning was a great experience for the children in Eagles class. They are now so excited to be able to make their own museum this term.
