FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
School Lunches:
We ask parents to order school dinners at the beginning of the week. As we are a small village school, dinners are not cooked on site. Dinners are cooked at and brought in from a local school in Alton. Dinners are eaten in the school hall. Advice on entitlement to free school meals can be obtained from our school office.
Packed Lunches:
Alternatively children can bring in packed lunches. We ask that lunches are healthy and do not contain any sweets. In the warmer months the children have the opportunity to eat their packed lunches outside at the picnic tables.
Policy on water and snacks:
We encourage all children to bring in a bottle as each classroom has a tap providing cooled drinking water. Bottles can be kept on tables whereas cups can't due to the possibility of spilt water ruining work or damaging laptops. We provide all children with fruit for breaktimes.
School Uniform:
Please see the uniform page.
Start and finish times of School day:
The school day starts at 8:50am and finsihes at 3:30pm. We have three breaktimes during the day.
Mobile phones:
Children are asked not to bring mobile phones to school.
After school care:
We have a range of after school clubs.
Provision for special needs:
Our SENco monitors the progress of our children with special needs alongside the class teachers and our learning support assistants. Children have Individual Education Plans and targets are regularly reviewed. Parents are kept informed throughout the whole process. We involve other agencies as necessary.
School visits:
Each class participates in visits of differing kinds and distances from school. As an example, children have explored the village of Binsted as well as going all the way to Calshot for a year 5 and 6 residential.
Car parking:
We close our school gate just before 8:50am as we do not allow cars into the car park at this time or at the end of the day, in order to ensure the safety of our children and families. At other times of the day parking is sometimes available in the school car park. However, if it is full, car parking is available opposite the church.
